Daydreaming of Starting Your Home Garden?

It's March, and that means it's time to get started on your home or community garden!

Select the right soil for your seedlings!

If you are looking to get started with your home or community garden the time is now for those who live on the East Coast of the United States. Most persons in the east coast are in USDA zones 7a and 7b.

Regardless, if you are thinking to start your project inside your home, or outside, get started today!

We were successful in starting a container garden on our porch in Arlington, VA. During this time we were able to grow green beans, cucumbers, dwarf avocado plants, various flowers, and house plants.

We shopped at our local hard store in Falls Church, VA named Brown's Hardware. We were able to pick up things we needed like soil, seeds, tools, and equipment. At times when Brown's Hardware was closed, we did online shopping with Etsy. One great thing about shopping with Etsy was that we sometimes received extra seeds or other products when we shopped with other small businesses.

We used Etsy to look at what was possible to grow in a container based on our USDA Zone.
